This is how it all started…
I decided to start this journey because I saw that I was on the path of doing everything, therefore doing nothing. I wasn’t living my life by design but by default. I read the book “Essentialism- The Disciplined Pursuit of Less” in 2019. It took on a new meaning when I read it this year. In a world that bombards us with more choices than a kid in a candy store, embracing essentialism is like being the bouncer at the club of life — letting in only the VIPs while keeping the wannabes at bay. I feel it’s vital to navigate the glamorous world of prioritizing what truly matters! “The essentialist knows that less equals more. When you’re selective, you’re giving yourself more time to create high-quality work.” — Greg McKeown
Imagine your life is a suitcase — there’s only so much you can stuff in there before the zipper explodes. That was me and my suitcase. I had to do everything, go everywhere, be everyone’s best friend. I sometimes felt like a chameleon being pulled in different directions.
Essentialism is the Marie Kondo of life philosophies; it’s all about asking yourself, “Does this spark joy?” Except, instead of socks, you’re sorting through commitments, hobbies, and life choices. The more choices we are forced to make, the more the quality of our decisions deteriorates. Know that every day you have a choice! That is a powerful thing to recognize.
